Sorry but it was an insult to all progressive musicians around the world to have grohl and those other wanna be rockers try to play the overture. The recorded intro was the best part. Grohl bothers me because he can barely play the drums and is an even worse guitar player. I'm sure Neil and the guys thought it was some kind of joke and a back handed compliment. Foo fighters blow. Their music doesn't deserve to be associated with UFO's either by the way (foo fighters were WWII UFO orbs that followed planes.) At any rate, at least one of the most creative and talented bands in rock history finally made it in. Total fail on Grohl and his cohorts. They could have found some musicians that can really play but whatever. Bet you didn't know RUSH isn't even from our planet. Check this blog for the truth about one of the greatest prog bands ever. go to donmilesxfiles and search Aliens, Sci-Fi and Rock and Roll: RUSH for the truth.

I was a wee lad of 10 years when I heard about "Rush" for the first time on "WTUE" radio in Dayton, Ohio, and the immortal Tom Carroll introducing that Alex Lifeson mighty riff for working men everywhere. I have been a fan ever since. I even remember watching them on either Don Kirshner's Rock Concert or the Midnight Special doing "Fly by Night" in 1975, the first time that I actually saw them anywhere, and my older brother, who was 21 at the time, telling me that they were "shite" (YOU know what I mean!) Funny, how in 1976, he was buying the "2112" 8-track tape, and telling me how great their concert was with "Uriah Heep" (Now, there's a band that deserves a place in the Rock Hall!), I believe, and how they should release a live album, which they did - "All the World's a Stage". Yes, "Rush" have always been cool, that much is true! Good luck with the Junos on Sunday, guys!

Foo Fighters not very cool. Drummer for Nirvana? Who? Suddenly a great guitar player? Shouting his lyrics in place of real singing? I'm no hater, I love Sade, I love Rush, I love America(the band), I love Helloween, I love all kinds of stuff!....but I don't buy into mass hysteria corporate hype. I've heard better 2112 from garages everywhere. Come on.

Acceptance speech left me in tears. Neil and Geddy were totally awesome! I do wish Alex would have talked to me a little bit...but I understand him and his humor. I get his point. Just wish after all this time, he would have left me a word of appreciation and insight. Again, not going to criticize him, totally understand his personality. Imma just saying.

And let the hater/no life shots be fired! Don't care..I've been a fan of Rush since I was 11....38 years ago. I've loved and supported them with vinyl, concert tickets, cassettes, CDs, DVD's, memorabilia and constant internet chatter. Nothing you can say will shake my faith and support. As Alex has earned his say, so have I.

People who think Dave Grohl is a solid drummer and a great musician: Kurt Cobain, John Paul Jones, Slash, Paul McCartney.

People who don't: SteveK and Don Miles.

I'm going to side with the dudes from (arguably) the 4 biggest rock bands ever.

I agree. Grohl is a musical whore with no chops. He ruined that jam with Paul McCartney and this wasn't any better. They were in a way mocking RUSH by allowing these deliatants to play the Overture. Total fail sorry to say.

Really no love for Dave Grohl? As far as i'm concerned in 30 years people will be asking who was Nirvana, to me the Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl trump almost everything Nirvana ever did. Not to mention this was recorded with a smart phone and why would Alex have talked to you in the first place? Did you change his life? Take your stack of "vinyl" and have a seat. Nobody ever said he was a great guitar player but he is a hell of a musician and songwriter. If your not familiar check out the work he has done with 'Them Crooked Vultures' & 'Queens of the Stone Age' who he played drums with. He worked his way up in the music business like countless others and to me is the modern ambassador of rock n' roll. So what have you earned? Cause you bought some records now you're in the band? Respect is earned, not bought or given because you own a t-shirt and album

Grohl modern rock and roll embassador? No wonder rock and roll is virtually dead. If that is the best we can do then rock will surely die. He is a musical whore with no chops as I said. The antithesis of RUSH in every way. Grunge was a watered down bad trip created by heroin junkies who can barely play their instruments. We should endeavor to do better. Who am I? Someone who can play rings around Grohl I can tell you that much.

chriswich007

Play rings around Grohl? I doubt it. But let me know when your album comes out -- followed by your world tour.
