I really do NOT get the popularity of this cat.
I mean, I can go over the Chuck Levin's music store north of DC and see 20 guitarists play better than this guy on any given day of the year.
I keep trying to give him a chance to win me over and it never happens.
Recently I viewed a documentary on Paladeum called "It Might Get Loud" with U2's The Edge, Jimmy Page, and Jack White.
At one point they are all jamming to something White was either making up in his head or it may be one of his recorded songs, I don't know. All I know is the camera pans to Jimmy Page, and he has this look like "how did I get talked into this and which way is the exit???"... LOL
