Future Publishing will release the forthcoming Alice Cooper album, Welcome 2 My Nightmare, as a fan pack in print and on the iPad. Future has already issued magazine packs featuring albums by Motorhead, Whitesnake, Slash and Blondie.
Welcome 2 My Nightmare is the follow-up to Cooper's 1975 concept album, Welcome to My Nightmare.
The iPad album fan pack will feature a digital version of the album, plus footage recorded at the latest Download festival, which took place in London in early June, plus interactive elements and all the material available on the printed version.
Chris Ingham, publisher of Classic Rock and Metal Hammer, said the brief from Cooper’s management was to “put Halloween in a box."
The Cooper fan pack is slated for a September release, four weeks before the standard album version from Universal. The iPad version will then be updated, post release.
“We believe it is a world first,” Ingham said.
Future also is ready to launch an online Global Talent Network, hosted by Metal Hammer, which will be beta tested later this month, going live in July. Ingham describes it as a “heavy metal Myspace” aimed at the Far East and Indian markets. The site will provide free and premium services, the former allowing users to upload demos for peer to peer review, the latter providing paying customers with feedback from an A&R panel and Metal Hammer staff.
