Choosing the right acoustic guitar to start out as a beginner can be a daunting task. There are so many shapes, sizes and specs to choose from – not to mention the gamble of trying to find an affordable six-string that can often leave you underwhelmed when you actually try to play it.

It can be enough to make you want to bury your head in the sand, but with the Christmas season right around the corner, the looming pressure isn’t going to go away anytime soon.

If you feel seen, you’d be hard pressed to find a better option than the Ibanez V Series. If you’re looking for your first guitar, or wanting to buy one for a family member or friend who wants to get started, it’s the first lineup you need to check out.

Prices in the UK start from £109, and only go as high as £149. The collection includes everything from classic dreadnoughts for balance and output, to mini dreadnoughts for smaller strummers. There are also larger Grand Concert models, and cutaway options for giving you greater upper fret access.

Across the range, a range of high quality tonewoods are used, including spruce and meranti, which also offer a choice of either light Natural and darker top aesthetics.

It’s worth taking note of the player friendly appointments that have been added to get you started as soon as possible. These include the Ibanez Advantage bridge pins for stability and easy string changes, and onboard electronics for plugging in.

Better yet, the V Series acoustics can also be bought as part of Ibanez’s Jampack range, which adds in all the accessories you’ll need to keep playing for longer. The included gig bag lets you carry it around safely, while the electronic tuner helps you stay in pitch. There’s also a strap and a pick for convenience.
