Interview: Serj Tankian on 'Harakiri'

"If Nixon were running for president today, he would be seen as a 'liberal" candidate,' and he would probably win," wrote Hunter S. Thompson in 2004. It was a telling statement coming from a man who was watching from the sidelines as Nixon defeated Democratic hopeful George McGovern in the 1972 Presidential election before being practically run out of town following the Watergate Scandal. What the Good Doctor was alluding to was the tragic state of U.S. politics in the new millennium, which he saw as being overrun by crooks and criminals that made old Tricky Dick look like a mischievous scamp in comparison.
