Yamaha redefines the concept of the modern acoustic guitar with the TAS3 C TransAcoustic – which puts the entire creative process into one instrument
The latest evolution of the Yamaha TransAcoustic format is the ultimate all-in-one music-making tool, with built-in effects, looper, and Bluetooth capabilities
For decades, Yamaha has been a leading force in the world of acoustic guitars, consistently pairing cutting edge features and traditional styles for a lineup that has become one of the music world’s most-loved and most-respected.
With the TAS3 C TransAcoustic Guitar, Yamaha has doubled down on its deep-rooted heritage of innovation, producing a six-string that further pushes the boundaries of its acclaimed TransAcoustic family – and redefines what a modern acoustic instrument is capable of.
At its very core, the TAS3 C is a highly robust acoustic guitar in its own right. It boasts a solid Sitka spruce top, is treated with A.R.E., and has solid mahogany back and sides.
Look deeper, though, and you’ll find not just a solid acoustic – you’ll also find a versatile build that offers built-in effects, an onboard looper, and a generous array of controls that turn it into the ultimate all-in-one music-making tool.
The TAS3 C offers a built-in looper with a tap sensor, as well as reverb, chorus and delay effects with simple controls. There’s also Bluetooth audio capability, as well as a Li-Ion battery with 5.5 hours of play time and magnetic charging connection.
All of that makes the TAS3 C a powerful companion for writing, rehearsing, recording and performing. The looper, which can be used to stack melodies and harmonies, can be triggered via the tap sensor found on the guitar’s cutaway.
Under the hood, two actuators inside the guitar respond to string vibrations, transmitting those vibrations to both the top and back of the guitar, organically producing reverb, delay and chorus effects. These – as well as the looper – can be controlled by the simple four-button panel, designed to occupy minimal space and preserve the guitar’s rich tone.
Bluetooth support, meanwhile, means songs, backing tracks and other audio can be directly streamed from the guitar’s body, transmitted via the vibrations of the actuators to offer a more life-like listening experience.
All of the above works alongside the Yamaha TAG Remote app. Here, players can fine-tune effects and manage loop phrases.
It is, in other words, a visionary acoustic build that could transform the way we interact with our instrument. Yvette Young is but one big-name player who has made the TransAcoustic part of her arsenal – and for good reason.
The TAS3 C is available for $1,899.99.
