“Refining the standard that players should expect from their digital rigs”: Laney’s LFR-110 is a portable powerhouse FRFR that looks to set a new benchmark for amp modeler users

As the popularity and presence of digital amp modelers continues to skyrocket in the guitar world, the importance of selecting a full range, flat response speaker cab that can truly cater to your specific needs is becoming ever greater.

For those players who rely on the Neural DSP Quad Cortex, Line 6 Helix, Kemper Profiler, Boss GT-1000 or any other amp modeler, the lack of having a physical amp onstage that can ‘push air’ can sometimes lead to a less-than-ideal playing and monitoring experience.

That’s where FRFR cabs – which work to project your dialed-in digital tones without coloring them in any way whatsoever – come in. And if you’re in need of a cab that can level-up your amp-less rig, you’d be hard pressed to find something better suited than Laney’s own line of FRFRs.

The range comprises four iterations: the LFR-112, LFR-212, LFR-412, and the newly launched LFR-110, which offers a more compact and affordable solution to guitarists on the go.

Offering 250 watts of power, this 1x10 cab boasts a custom 10” driver as well as a 1” LaVoce compression driver, and comes equipped with all the bells and whistles you’d ever need from a portable FRFR cab.

Capable of working alongside any digital modeler, it offers XLR/jack combi sockets, MP3/Aux In for music streaming, and Bluetooth connectivity for streaming backing tracks direct to the LFR-110, and for pairing two units together for a more complete setup.

There are also onboard level and HF controls for fine-tuning tones and tailoring high-end response, and, at just 20.7lbs, the LFR-110 weighs in as one of the lightest FRFR cabs currently on the market.

There is also a cab-emulated XLR DI output, which offers either a true FRFR response, or cab emulations of a 1x12” Celestion G12H-loaded Laney LT112 or a 4x12” HH-loaded Laney GS412IS

Pair all that with best in class tonal projection and some expansive features designed specifically for the gigging guitarist, and you have yourself a seriously powerful companion for your amp modeler, and an FRFR that truly feels and sounds like a genuine cab.

“These captivating FRFR powered cabinets are redefining the standard that players should expect from their digital rigs,” Laney justly writes. “They truly are Best In Class.”

Already, Laney FRFR cabs have become the go-to rig solution for many standout players, from Guthrie Govan and Jack Gardiner to Devin Townsend and Per Nilsson.

“Man! This sounds absolutely killer!” Gardiner notes of Laney’s FRFR speaker.

The Laney LFR-110 will be available for $729.
