Stockholm, Sweden – As reported to ABC News, Michael and Karolina Tomaro are locked in a court battle with Swedish authorities, which rejected their application to name their six-month-old child after the legendary rock band Metallica.
"[The name] suits her," said Metallica’s mother, Karolina Tomaro, 27 to ABC. "She's decisive and she knows what she wants."
While Metallica has been baptized, the Swedish National Tax Board is refusing to register the name, saying it was associated with both the rock group and the word "metal."
On March 13, the County Administrative Court in Goteborg ruled in Tomaro’s favor, citing the precedent of a Swedish woman with the middle name Metallica. The issue is not yet closed for the Tomaros, as the tax agency has appealed the decision to a higher court.
