Bo Diddley Hospitalized
GUITAR LEGEND BO DIDDLEY has suffered a stroke and is in intensive care at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
The 78-year-old guitar legend — who is famous for his black glasses and low-slung square-bodied guitar — was hospitalized Sunday, May 13, following a concert appearance in Council Bluffs, Iowa, according to his publicist. Diddley, who has a history of hypertension and diabetes, reportedly seemed disoriented during the performance.
The stroke apparently affected the left side of his brain, impairing his speech and speech recognition.
His May 25 appearance in Fargo has been canceled.
Diddley has been a music icon since 1955, when he topped the R&B charts with "Bo Diddley." His other hits include "Who Do You Love," "Before You Accuse Me," "Mona" and "I'm a Man." He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and received a Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1998.
