Led Zeppelin: Full-Scale Reunion Tour in Works
U.K.’s The Sun newspaper reports that Led Zeppelin are set for a reunion tour after singer Robert Plant finally agreed to join the rest of the band, which includes guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist John Paul Jones and drummer Jason Bonham.
Following the successful one-off show at London’s O2 Arena last December, Plant reportedly showed hesitation in committing to a full reunion tour. Plant had been on the road with Alison Krauss in support of their successful duet album, Raising Sand.
Page, Jones and Bonham resigned themselves to touring without Plant. It’s said that they even rehearsed with stand-in singers—and one American, who has yet gone unnamed, was so impressive they were confident they could hit the road next year without Plant. That news is what finally persuaded him to return.
A source revealed to The Sun: “The rest of the band had all but given up on Robert joining them, but they were determined to go ahead so had started to seriously explore other avenues.
"When Robert realized the band were serious about doing it without him, it made him think long and hard. He realized he couldn’t face the thought of not being involved. The band were over the moon when he told them the news. They are now forging ahead with the tour plans and they can’t wait to get on the road.”
The tour is set for next summer.
