Lita Ford's Wicked Wonderland Set for Oct. 6 Release
Lita Ford, the Queen of Metal, has returned with Wicked Wonderland (October 6th / JLRG Ent.), following an 18-year hiatus from music where she relocated to a deserted Caribbean island, dedicating her life to her husband (Jim Gillette of Nitro) and raising / home schooling their two sons. At the urging of her friends like Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, devoted fans and even her sons – to quote a lyric from the first single “Piece (Hell Yeah)” – “the
bitch is back.” Starting October 15th, Lita will be touring the U.S. with
(honorary backing band!) Queensryche.
“This album is harder and sexier than anything I’ve ever done,” says Lita
who co-produced the album with Gillette and Greg Hampton (Alice Cooper, his
band Science Faxtion with Bootsy Collins and Buckethead and Brain from Guns
N’ Roses). Wicked Wonderland also features former W.A.S.P. drummer Stet
Howland, Hampton on bass, rhythm guitar and keyboards, and Gillette on
background vocals. The striking cover art is by Rob Zombie bassist and solo
artist Piggy D.
- “The record is what got me to leave the island life behind. It gave me an
- excuse to take my family all over the world. They love it and are very
- supportive and behind me every step of the way,” adds Lita. “When we meet
- somebody, they’re not sure what to make of us. We’re an abnormal family, but
- we’re very tight.”
This November Lita & family will star in the 24-page comic book The
Gillettes: Family Business (JLRG Ent. / Tinsley's Wham Bang Comics), a tale
of Lita, Jim and sons Rocco, 8, and James, 12, trying to make it to their
Halloween rock concert, only to encounter trouble along the way in the form
of zombies and an ancient Chinese curse. The book's writer, 14-year-old Jake
Tinsley, attracted fans worldwide through his critically acclaimed Night Owl comic book series and his socially conscious Amber Hagerman Deserves
Justice: A Night Owl Story.
Lita began her career at age 17 as lead guitarist in the groundbreaking
all-female band The Runaways. Her own career includes such best-selling
albums as Out for Blood, Dancin’ on the Edge, Stiletto, Dangerous Curves and 1988’s million-selling Lita, as well as such signature songs as “Kiss Me Deadly” (a #12 hit single), “Hungry” and her Top 10 hit duet with Ozzy Osbourne
“Close My Eyes Forever.”
