Eddie Van Halen and guitar tech/Guitar World columnist Matt Bruck reveal the secrets behind EVH's new Frankenstein replica guitar.

All the best to you Eddie and I hope all is well with you. I have waited most of my life to find a way to know everything behind this guitar, and now finally after years of waiting there is one the public can buy. I love the guitar, Chip has done an awsome job. Only problem I have, There is no way I could ever afford this Ake. But if I had the money, I would buy it this minute. Who ever it was that said they feel sorry for anyone that would throw money away for this guitar (it's posted in these comments). This person must not actually play Guitar. Or if you do, then your playing does not come from your soul. There are some things that you just can't put a price on. I still wish I did have the money for one of them. All my best to Eddie, Chip, And all the guys at Guitar World
I'm sure that you've had to answer this thousands of times, but I'm wondering how you get your colossal sounds....like what are the main parts of your rig? You are a true Guitar Hero and in my opinion the best damn rhythm guitarist that we have seen....and even more the ability to create great lead licks. Thanks!
Been a VH fan since 1978 and the 1st record, have owned both the MM EVH signature, and several Wolfgangs as well as the Peavey 5150 AMP - but this, yeah I can see the attraction - but the price, 25K, Ed, if you want to make money, make music....you'll be lucky to sell 100 of these, and of those you might sell only one to an actual fan, the rest will go to, probably the hard rock cafe, or similar busniess, I think this truly shows your lack of care for your fans, and sums up all of the issues you've had with VH, Valerie, Manufacturers, producers, the list goes on and on.
The common denominator in all of it, is YOU. What you think because you cut out your own pickguard that you're special? Here's another one for you, the music you made is unequivacally some of the best ever, you ARE a guitar ICON, you DID change the course of electric guitar, however you did NOT create the scales you played, nor the notes, In FACT, there is not a SINGLE note on that fretboard that is "soley" YOURS.
Get over yourself, realize the wonderful things you created, and acheived, but don't forget the talent that GOD gave you, or the "breaks" that you received, that others, that may very well have equalled, or even surpassed you, did or have not yet.
Above all remember it's about the music, and not YOU!!
Sad to see...
I was 18 when Van Halen's first album was released. I will never forget putting that LP on my turntable and hearing those first notes of "Eruption"! I have been hooked on EVH ever since. Eddie has given us so much in the music he help make with VH, but he has also wasted his God given talent by not being available to us fans either in recording or on the road.
Watching this video makes me sad for Eddie. He was in very bad shape when this was filmed. Hopefully his stint in rehab since this was filmed has changed him into the Eddie we all know he can be.
Eddie....your fans and God still love you and want you well first and foremost.
eddie, you have made a guitar that has made history in your eyes and many others who appreciate the love of music, thank you for giving us the oppurtunity to have a chance to view an icon of rock and roll playing music that will never be played more naturaly and individualy like the best guitarist in the world!!! wish i had one, maybe one day i can have the oppurtunity to own one. your fan, bob
some of you did'nt learn a damn thing from this, eddie is the man, hero of many, may not have invented guitar scales, but set a mark of sheer playability and style, and put his soul into IT, for us fans alike, and i say thank you eddie, thank you alex, thank you VAN HALEN. YOU can always build your own guitar, plus there's thousands of gibsons and fenders 20k and way way up so if you want the best got to pay thats life, build ur own u.s.a custom shop guitar. and its a 300 limited edition ofcourse its high dollar, i would buy one if i had 25k to spend on a guitar, i would try and build my own first, get a b stock body good neck good pickups yorn in buisness, spray paint. And some good ol' common sense.
