The emotion and feeling that Dave puts into this solo give me the shivers and sometimes goose bumps even after hearing it 1000 times. That's how a good solo should make you feel, it should go right through your veins...I had to go with Dave on this one.

Randy Rhoads needs to win. Come on now everything he did was out of this world awesome!

My vote goes to Randy Rhoads.

I saw this song live in Norway in 2011 by a tribute act, i think it was either the australia pink floyd tribute band or the British one( Brit Floyd) from what i remember it was a really moving experience.

Easy choice for me with Comfortably Numb. It epitomizes the guitar solo in my mind -- a song within a song, something that might have stood on its own, but didn't turn out that way. It supports the main melody, then becomes something bigger. Amazingly, there are two solos in Comfortably Numb. The first is bitter sweet, the second gut wrenchingly beautiful.

Very nicely written - you definitely get it! I totally agree ....

Wow!... this one is rough....

Both great players and personal influences.

But, I had to go with David Gilmour, and I think even Randy wouldn't mind and would probably vote the same as I did.

Wow, so hard to choose. Both at the very top of my list. Had to go with my boy Randy, but don't care which wins. Both epic.

This was almost too hard to choose - my all time favorite player (Rhoads) vs. my all time favorite solo (Numb).

In the end though, the poll is for solo & not the player himself - so I had to go with Comfortably Numb

Nothing but respect for Rhoads, Im a metal guy through and through but Gilmour wins this hands down. IMO Numb is the greatest solo of all time. My gut thinks that Eddie will win and I have no problem with that. Eruption changed the entire landscape of how the guitar was perceived and nobody has done anything to match that.

since it s harder to play a great solo slowly. I go with Gilmour

No contest...Gilmore hands down. This could be a unfair comparison when we say um...."solos". I mean there sorta two different styles, when I think "solo".. I think Gilmore as opposed to shredding speed of RR. Nothing sticks better in my head then a Gilmore solo...and there's lots of em stuck there.
This solo may go far in my opinion, it's that good.

Gilmour ftw!

Love'em both, but Comfortably Numb's got my vote. Transcendent, tone, phrasing, everything is perfect, to me.
