Here's your chance to win a signed Epiphone guitar (electric, of course) from Slash!
Slash has partnered with Guitar World to launch the Ultimate Cover Contest. Starting Wednesday, March 13, musicians can upload a YouTube video of themselves playing along to Slash's new single “Anastasia,” using the interactive guitar tab feature found below.
The live video and interactive guitar tabs for the song were created by RealNetworks/Invu and enable fans to watch Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators perform “Anastasia” live for inspiration.
Guitar World editors will choose the top five contestants. Slash — as in Slash, himself — will then choose the winner of the signed guitar from Epiphone/Gibson!
IMPORTANT: For videos to be eligible, the following contest guidelines must be followed:
• Video must be titled: “SLASH – Anastasia (Cover Contest)”
• All entries must perform Slash’s new single “Anastasia” ONLY, upload their performance using the interactive guitar tab found at http://slashonline.com/videos and email the link to SlashSignedGuitar@gmail.com
• All entries must be a minimum of at least 30 seconds, but it is not necessary to perform the entire song
• All entries must be uploaded March 13 through March 20.
The winner will be contacted through a direct YouTube message, and the signed guitar will be delivered by April 30.
Slash and his bandmates Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators are in the midst of a world tour for Apocalyptic Love, which earned Slash his two first-ever No. 1 hits, “You’re A Lie” and “Standing In The Sun.”

Shame the top 5 you picked for Slash to choose from did not include an incredible version by a 14 year old guitarist from Slash's home town of Stoke on Trent! It blew me away when I first saw it. I hope Slash gets to see it, top 5 pick or not. It really does deserve a good look. The guitarist concerned is called James Bell, check him out.

We don't have enough clues on how you want us to record or mix our audio!, plus, my video (and not only mine) got blocked on the U.S for Copyright issues. Guess i'm not participating because of it.

The tab is wrong...
In the 6th bar of the first solo, after the first 16th notes there's a pull-off thing and then a E note. After that there SHOULD be a triplet thing (D-E-D) and then C-D-C(bend up to D). The way it's transcribed in the tab sounds wrong to me, any thoughts on this?

How do you want the audio of the song and our cover guitar mixed?
My best guess: mix the original song on one channel and our guitar version on the other channel. Much better would be to provide a version of Anastasia without the guitar, to play over and be able to distinguish our guitar playing from Slash's guitar playing.
Then, how exactly do we submit our video? My best guess is we upload it to youtube and hope you do a search on youtube of "SLASH – Anastasia (Cover Contest)" and hope the search catches all the entries, even slightly misspelled. Correct?
This "contest" does not seem well thought through. Feels more like a slapped together promotion of Slash's new single and RealNetworks/Invu software, rather than a sincere effort to find good guitar players.

Per the guidelines above, you can send your YouTube submission in a link via email to:
SlashSignedGuitar@gmail.comYou make some good points, but I suspect you're right, this is not a search for the best guitarist necessarily. It just seems like a fun giveaway, and yes a promotion for both the software and the single.
Still, great tune and I'd love a guitar signed by Slash!

Is this tab in full page format for download anywhere? It is a little tricky to learn tabs that scroll so quickly. I would like to learn the whole song just for my own pleasure as well. This is a great song. Thanks for providing.
