Edit (3:01 p.m.): This story has been amended with more details about the circumstances of Ebert's arrest.
Grammy-winning band Turnstile's co-founder and former guitarist Brady Ebert has reportedly been arrested for attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault, after allegedly hitting former Turnstile bandmate Brendan Yates’ father with his car.
The Baltimore Banner reports that on March 29, Montgomery County Police responded to a home in Silver Spring, Maryland, where officers discovered Brendan Yates’ 79-year-old father, William Yates, in the front yard with “trauma to his lower extremities.”
Yates' family said, according to police reports, that Ebert drove to the home, honked his horn, and yelled obscenities. Later, police say, Ebert returned and intentionally hit William Yates with his car in the driveway.
According to arrest records from the Montgomery County Police Department, Brady O’Brien Ebert, a 33-year-old from Silver Spring, Maryland, was charged with attempted murder and assault on March 31.
While Ebert typically goes by “Brady Ebert,” his full name, Brady O’Brien Ebert, is listed on the credits of the Turnstile songs he contributed to.
He reportedly made his first court appearance yesterday (April 1), with a bail/bond review hearing scheduled for today (April 2).

In August 2022, the band formally parted ways with Ebert. Before that point, he was notably absent from tours and was subsequently replaced by Greg Cerwonka of Take Offense, followed by Meg Mills of Big Cheese and Chubby and the Gang.
Further claims allege that the band's drummer, Daniel Fang, filed a peace order against Ebert on August 4, which was later dismissed on August 11 due to “no statutory basis of relief.”
This past February, Ebert was fired from his new band, The S.E.T., after a social media outburst in which he accused his former Turnstile bandmates of performative politics, financial mismanagement, and falsely trying to get a restraining order against him.
