Storied Sydney rock veterans The Angels release their 14th studio album today in the form of Ninety Nine, and to celebrate its release – as well as the group's 50th birthday – the five-piece kicks off a national tour today.
The Angels' current line-up features original members John and Rick Brewster. Former drummer Nick Norton handles vocals duties, and is the group's third frontman following Dave Gleeson's stint and the original classic Doc Neeson line-up. Rounding out the five-piece is Sam and Tom Brewster – John Brewster's sons – on bass and drums respectively.
The new line-up brings the on stage six-string total to three, with Norton also axe-wielding. All play on Ninety Nine, which is the first Angels LP in a decade, following 2014's Talk the Talk. Consolidating modern Angels as very much a family affair, Rick Brewster's son contributes sax to tracks Follow The Red Thread and Under the Stone, while John's son handled writing duties on Little Lies.
Check out the tour dates below, which are supported by Mi-Sex. Ninety Nine is out now - look out for an interview with John Brewster in the forthcoming issue of Australian Guitar, out July 15.
