You might get a strange look packing this futuristic frame into your luggage, but this 4.5 star rated travel guitar is an absolute bargain for just $370 in the early Prime Day sales
The Donner Hush X Live is everything you could possibly want from a travel-friendly electric guitar, and all the more tempting to grab at 16% off
Some guitars are more novelty than instrument – with just-because-they-could add-ons and features that most of us don’t really chime with. And then there are some guitars that really, honestly put the ‘novel’ in novelty. Donner’s Hush X Live is one such guitar. And right now, the guitar series we rated 4.5 stars, has a hearty 16% off for Prime Day.
The Hush X Live takes the travel electric niche and runs with it, making for a full-featured headless instrument that’s ideal for quiet practice, loud practice, on-the-go practice, impromptu performance and everything between. It’s the guitar you never knew you needed, surprisingly good for its price – particularly with this temporarily low price.
The Donner Hush X Live is a headless electric travel guitar with more bells and whistles than a bells-and-whistles factory. It’s a headless travel guitar with a detachable 5W amp, five onboard amp models and a suite of built-in effects. There’s a tonne of I/O for headphone practice, plugging into amps pre- and post-effects and Bluetooth backing-track streaming; it has Alnico V pickups and a through-neck design, too, that makes it more intriguing to play than the average travel electric. The Hush X Live comes in either black or white – and both colorways are 16% off for Amazon Prime Day.
The Hush X Live is a continuation of form for Donner; we loved its prior iteration, the Donner Hush X, for its comfort, sound and playability, to the point that we gave it 4.5 out of 5. Here, with the Hush X Live, there’s straight-up more to love.
The Hush X Live adds an on-board 5W amp, replete with five different amp/cab sims and a variety of clever digital effects, including delays, reverbs and even a noise gate. A noise gate! Control parameters are all accessed via handy knobs where you’d usually expect a pickguard to be – the whole techy shebang being couched comfortably in a detachable lower body module. There’s I/O for days too, including headphone and monitor outputs and even a Bluetooth input for receiving backing tracks.
The actual guitar bit of this whole arrangement, though, is arguably more impressive. It’s a headless through-neck design, comprising seven strips of Okoume and a 22-fret HPL (or roasted maple) fingerboard. The body houses two of Donner’s own Alnico V pickups, a single coil for the neck and a hot humbucker for bridge. There’s a straight jack output from the body, too, if you want to use the Hush X Live without its optional techy gubbins.
The guitar, by itself, is an extremely inviting prospect. It’s an entry-level travel electric with the specs and sound of something far less portable; with the attachable amp, there’s some clever tech that would make rehearsal and backstage practice a cinch. All of this, for $66 less on Prime Day. And it comes with so much box candy too, including a clip-on tuner, a strap and a purpose-designed bag for all that travellin’ you’ll be doing with it.
