Leslie West grew up in New York City and started out as one of the original members of The Vagrants. Of course, he is best known as the guitarist for the hard rock group Mountain, who Rolling Stone once called “a louder version of Cream.” The band gave us classics like “Mississippi Queen” and “Theme from an Imaginary Western” and was credited with helping the development of heavy metal.
I recently sat down with one of the brains behind the metal monster that is Testament, riff master Eric Peterson. We talked about all things metal -- including gear, practicing, touring and more -- in this two-part interview. Keep your eyes peeled for Testament's upcoming release, The Dark Roots Of Earth.
In the video below, we check out the new Dimebag Concrete Sledge ML guitar. Actually, you'll notice Dimebag's original ML hanging on the wall; that, of course, was the inspiration for the new model. The new version features an exact rendering of the colorful airbrush job on the original guitar. It's got everything but the Kiss sticker!
One of the new models to be introduced at NAMM this past weekend by Dean Guitars is the limited-edition Dean USA DCR Vinnie Moore Vinman Koa. And by limited, we mean limited; only 15 of these guitars will be produced. Moore was one of many artists present at the Dean booth this past Saturday, and the UFO guitarist was happy to show off his new signature model. The photo gallery below features pix of the guitar and of Moore being interviewed by Curse Mackey of Dean Guitars.
