Attack! Attack! UK Wins Guitar Hero Listening Session at Midem 2009
Attack! Attack! UK has already been making quite an impact on the UK scene, and they are set to hit US shores very soon on a number of fronts. NME has trumpeted: “The entire history of British post-hardcore has been building towards Attack! Attack! [UK].” They played the Reading and Leeds Festivals last summer, and they’ve gotten airplay on BBC’s Radio 1 and Radio 6. They’ve toured with the likes of Funeral For A Friend, Lostprophets, Aiden, and The Blackout. Their video has seen airplay on both NME TV and Kerrang! TV. The print version of Kerrang! said their music is “...packing enough pop-rock punch to leave you reeling for days.” They were also nominated for Best British Newcomer at the 2009 Kerrang! Awards.
The band is already seeing ongoing spins and developing success in the US at Sirius/XM with their song, "This Is A Test,” and March 2009 saw the four lads from Wales hit US soil for their first gig this side of the Atlantic: they performed at an official SXSW invitation-only party sponsored by Kerrang! and Guitar Hero, where they shared a bill with Enter Shikari, Frank Turner, The Bronx, and Rolo Tomassi. “I can't express how privileged we feel about being asked to play SXSW with such great bands,” says Attack! Attack! UK vocalist Neil Starr. “It'll be our first show in America, too, so it’s even more of a dream come true. It’s simply super-smashing great!”
Following the US live debut, Attack! Attack! UK had their song “You and Me” included in the March 31st episode of the TV show “90210,” which airs on the CW network.
It has also been announced by Activision Publishing, Inc. that Attack! Attack! UK was the winner of this year’s Guitar Hero Listening Session at MIDEM 2009, for which they will have their single, “You and Me,” available for fans to play in Guitar Hero 5. The quartet topped a list of over 200 submissions and were chosen by a panel of industry veterans.
Formed in January 2007 in a rundown industrial estate on the outskirts of Cardiff, Wales, Attack! Attack! UK features ex members of Welsh bands Dopamine, Adequate Seven, Midasuno and Pete’s Sake. Taking influences from 80’s punk, 90’s grunge, pop rock and new wave (everything from Stereophonics to AC/DC, The Police, The Ramones, and the Sex Pistols), and powering a sound that guitarist Ryan Day calls, “no frills or bullshit...just honest, melodic and rocking,” Attack! Attack! UK has been building a loyal fan base across the UK. Attack! Attack! UK was nominated as best newcomer in the Welsh Music Awards 2007.
