Biography: Mutemath

Though without much commercial success, Mutemath became an underground hit of sorts by using social media and performances on talk shows as a catalyst for their success. Specifically, the band’s performances on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and David Letterman's show gave the band quite the fan base.

As an old-school blues-influenced guitarist, John Mayer has amassed fans of all kinds, through his both critically and mainstream friendly style that has sold more than 20 million records. After a brief stint in college, Mayer hit the music scene in the late ‘90s and has become an entertainment icon ever since.

Biography: The Cure

One of the more influential New Wave bands in history, The Cure have churned out more than 10 studio albums over the course of four decades. Though more of a post-punk band in the early years, the Cure exploded onto international fame in the late '80s with more pop-friendly hits like “Just Like Heaven” and “Friday I’m in Love.”

Biography: Smashing Pumpkins

One of the most interesting bands of the nineties, The Smashing Pumpkins have had their share of success and turmoil. Centered around front man Billy Corgan, the alternative rock band has gone through multiple breakups, and several band members. The longest mainstay, drummer Jimmy Chamberlain, left the group in 1999.

Biography: Stone Temple Pilots

Founded in 1992 in San Diego by vocalist Scott Wieland and bassist Robert DeLeo, the Stone Temple Pilots exploded onto the music industry while riding the coattails of the Grunge scene of the early 1990s.

Perhaps the biggest rock band of this century, Coldplay instantly took the world by storm with their 2000 debut, Parachutes.

Biography: Pearl Jam

Arguably the most successful of the four main grunge bands from the early ‘90s, Pearl Jam is still one of today's more successful rock bands. The band was founded by bassist Jeff Ament and guitarist Stone Gossard, both of whom were in the bands Green River and Mother Love Bone.

Biography: Our Lady Peace

Formed in 1992 by front man Raine Maida and guitarist Mike Turner, Our Lady Peace (OLP, for short) quickly became a Canadian music powerhouse with their 1994 release of Naveed. Following in the footsteps of the Grunge era, OLP immediately gained comparisons to the likes of the Stone Temple Pilots, and even Led Zeppelin, due to their angst and raw sound.
