Job for a Cowboy Join Sounds of the Underground
-- Look for a Job for a Cowboy interview in the July issue of Guitar World, on sale May8! --
Fast-rising extreme metal unit Job for a Cowboy has announced both North American and United Kingdom festival dates in support of their eagerly anticipated debut album, Genesis, due May 15 via Metal Blade Records.
Job for a Cowboy will perform amongst the featured artists at England's massive Download Festival, set to take place June 8, 9 and 10. JFAC have been added to the three-day festival amongst a hot list of artists that includes Lamb of God, Marilyn Manson, Motley Crue, Shadows Fall, Turbonegro, Velvet Revolver and Wolfmother. The Download Festival is a three-day music fest held annually at the spiritual home of rock music in England: Donington Park (which hosted the Monsters of Rock Festivals between 1980 and 1996, and 2002's Ozzfest).
Furthermore, Job for a Cowboy will perform live as part of the 2007 Sounds of the Underground tour, set to launch Friday, July 6 in Dallas, TX. The band joins the third installment of the cutting edge annual trek alongside Every Time I Die, Amon Amarth, Darkest Hour, Goatwhore, the Number Twelve Looks Like You and more.
Check out the "Job for a Sponge" clip below, where JFAC's song "Knee Deep," from their 2005 Doom EP, is set to a headbanging scene from the SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon.
Job for a Cowboy, who toured the world in 2006 in support of their wildly popular, self-financed Doom EP, recorded Genesis at Blue Light Audio Media in Phoenix, AZ, with producer Cory Spotts. The album was mixed by the Grammy winning Andy Sneap (Opeth, Entombed, Megadeth).
On the topic of the new album, Job for a Cowboy guitarist Ravi Bhadriraju comments, "Genesis is a record that we as a band needed to fulfill. We wrote an album that we wanted to play live well into the distant future. If there is one word to describe our new record, it is ‘aggressive.’ We want this album to have a certain effect on the listener. I am happy with what we have achieved, and I hope our fans appreciate it too."

Vocalist Jonny Davy states, "We wrote the material that became the Doom EP at a very young age and the sound of this upcoming record is a much different one than anything we've done before. We're anxious for its release and we hope everyone who hears it will enjoy."
In addition to Bhadriraju and Davy, Job for a Cowboy features Bobby Thompson (guitar), Brent Riggs (bass) and drummer Jon "The Charn" Rice.
The final track listing for GENESIS is as follows:
- 1) Bearing The Serpent's Lamb
- 2) Reduced to Mere Filth
- 3) Altered from Catechization
- 4) Upheaval
- 5) Embedded
- 6) Strings of Hypocrisy
- 7) Martyrdom Unsealed
- 8) Blasphemy
- 9) The Divine Falsehood
- 10) Coalescing Prophecy
