Aspiring blues guitarists can sign-up at any Guitar Center location across the country to enter for the chance to win more than $50,000 in prizes which includes $25,000 cash, gear from Gibson, Epiphone, Egnater, Shure, Ernie Ball and Boss, plus studio time with Grammy Award-winning producer Pete Anderson.
Joe Bonamassa's next album, Driving Towards The Daylight, will be out May 22. Among the guest stars are Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford and Whitford's son, Harrison, also a guitarist. Other guests include guitarists Pat Thrall and Blondie Chaplan, drummer Anton Fig, bassists Michael Rhodes and Carmine Rojas and keyboard player Arlan Schierbaum.
Candlelight Records has confirmed June 19 as the North American release date for Eremita, the fourth album from Norwegian-born vocalist/guitarist Ihsahn. Recorded and produced at Telemark’s Ivory Shoulder Studios, with additional tracking at Notodden’s Juke Joint Studio and Seattle’s Envisage Audio, Eremita was mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth) at Fascination Street Studios in Orebo, Sweden.
Award-winning producer/songwriter/guitarist John Shanks clearly recalls the first time he heard Van Halen. “I was 12 years old, doing my homework, and I put their first album on,” he says. “All of a sudden, ‘Eruption’ comes on and you’re like, ‘What?’ No one had ever heard that. It freaked us all out. To me, it was Hendrix, Beck, Page, Gilmour and Clapton. That was it — the big five. And of course The Beatles. And then, one day, Van Halen.”
The Story of Wish You Were Here -- a DVD/Blu-ray about Pink Floyd's classic 1975 album -- will be released June 26 via Eagle Rock Entertainment. The DVD is authorized by the surviving members of the band and was made with their involvement and cooperation.
