Build quality

It's rock solid, but the screen could be an area of concern if you're not careful

★★★★½

Usability

As with all powerful effects units, there's some learning required, but Darkglass has done a great job of making the Anagram as intuitive as possible

★★★★½

Sounds

As a unit full of core bass amps, cabs and OD/distortions, there's a lot going on. A little more variation would be welcome: it's quality over quantity

Boss ME-90B
Price $439.99/£349.99/€369

While it might appear as a more traditional multi-FX unit, the Boss ME-90B can cover all of the Anagram's target applications. Control is hands-on, but the signal routing is simplified. If you're on a budget it's a lot of bang for your buck.

During this time, he and the team brought the magazine into the modern age with digital editions, a Youtube channel and the Apple chart-bothering Total Guitar Podcast. Stuart has also served as a freelance writer for Guitar World, Guitarist and MusicRadar reviewing hundreds of products spanning everything from acoustic guitars to valve amps, modelers and plugins. When not spouting his opinions on the best new gear, Stuart has been reminded on many occasions that the 'never meet your heroes' rule is entirely wrong, clocking-up interviews with the likes of Eddie Van Halen, Foo Fighters, Green Day and many, many more. If he's not playing the guitar, you'll likely find Stuart behind the kit playing Valerie to newlyweds.
