Metallica has only 97 original songs to their credit...i find this list to be redundant

This should have been a top 25 list. After #15 or so GW starts running out of things to say about the songs and by the end it's degenerated into child-like gibberish.

At least identify musical aspects of the songs, such as "This is in the key of E at 160 bpm, the scale used for the solos are..." instead of "We love you James, but this was a terrible cover.." and such. I always thought this was a music magazine, more music content!

There's only so many times you could say "Kirk uses the pentatonic scale for this one" before you went insane.

MoP should've been number one imo, but I'm glad Enter Sandman wasn't near the top...I've never really liked that song and I kind of thought I was the only one. lol

St. Anger making it ahead of anything on Master of Puppets? Are you kidding?

....what? Why is the frayed ends of sanity #60? This list is all kinds of f'd up....

The countdowns are REALLY getting old now.

Come on guy, The Day that Never comes only came in at #75? Are you serious? For my money, its their best song they've made since the ...And Justice for All album. You can't possibly think the Memory Remains, Frantic or basically half the songs above it are better songs. You're killlinnn me lol.

But kudos for ranking Enter Sandman at #20. That's exactly where it should be if not a little lower, thank you for not giving in.

I wouldn't include any covers on this list, and IMO the top 100 should be all of the songs from the first five records and maybe a couple from Death Magnetic.

well, their first 4 CDs had 8-9 song a piece on them, and DM had about the same. So you're looking at maybe 70 songs there. Plus, they actually have made some original covers. They definately put their stamp on some of them, Whiskey in the Jar, Die My Darling and Stone Cold Crazy are just good Metallica songs, and superior to the originals. But St. Anger is terrible, and I wouldn't put a single song from Reload in the top 100.

Why, oh why, is St. Anger (#25) placed so high. That has got to be one of the worst Metallica songs ever. I certainly is not better than Harvester of Sorrow (#31) nor Through The Never (#61 ... #61!!! REALLY?!)

Respectfully disagree. ...And Justice For All and Metallica (The Black Album) are, perhaps, their two strongest albums. The Black Album is one of my favorite albums of all time.

Cliff Burton played a very big part in the musicianship development of Metallica. His role cannot be undermined. He is still very much missed.

I can't help but think about Metallica as they would be today if Cliff survived. I don't think we would have Load, Re-crap, or St. Anger. But I also shudder to think that also we probably wouldn't have The Black Album.
