Metal's longest-running freakshow, Gwar, have officially started work on a new album.
While the band are currently on the road with Municipal Waste, they issued a statement assuring fans that, while there is no release date yet, there will be a new Gwar album.
A video has been making the rounds today featuring Kurt Cobain's isolated vocal track from "Smells Like Teen Spirit," taken from Nirvana's seminal 1991 album, Nevermind. While it's not exactly new (It's been up since 2010), it's still a cool find, and you can listen in the video below.

According to a new post on his official website, Rob Zombie and crew will be hitting the studio sometime in June to begin work on his fifth solo album. Zombie's current lineup is rounded out by guitarist John 5, bassist Piggy D and drummer Ginger Fish.
"As production on The Lords of Salem ends, it is time for music," wrote Zombie. "We will be packing up the band and moving to a remote location to record. No distractions, just music.“
Next week, Resonance Records will release Echoes of Indiana Avenue, the first full album of previously unreleased music by jazz great Wes Montgomery in more than 25 years. The release date, March 6, would have been Montgomery's 88th birthday.
The tapes represent the earliest known recordings of Montgomery as a band leader, pre-dating his 1959 debut on Riverside Records. The nine songs were recorded in 1957 and 1958 at nightclubs in his hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana (including four tracks recorded at The Hub Bub), and in the studio.
Metallica have announced the release of their Beyond Magnetic EP as a limited-edition silver vinyl pressing exclusively for Record Store Day.
The EP -- which features four previously unreleased tracks from the Death Magnetic sessions -- has already seen a digital and CD release.
A statement on the band's official website reads: "First it was digital, then it was compact disc, now the Beyond Magnetic EP will be available on vinyl to celebrate Record Store Day on April 21, 2012.
