On May 19, Black Sabbath -- in this case, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler with drummer Tommy Clufetos -- shared the stage together for the first time in seven years, pelting a hometown crowd in Birmingham, England, with a solid set of Sabbath classics.
Aerosmith are back, and they're bringing friends! In a new interview with Rolling Stone, it has been revealed that the band's new album, Music From Another Dimension! will feature guest appearances from a number of familiar faces.
Last week, New Orleans-based metal supergroup Down debuted a brand new song from their upcoming EP, Down IV Part I – The Purple EP. The track, titled "Witchtripper," is now available for streaming via YouTube, so check it out below.
"I always thought that it would be really cool to compose an album of music in the same way that you’d score a movie," says Periphery guitarist Misha Mansoor. "In other words, the lyrics and storyline would come first and the music would be almost secondary to the plot. The arrangements are going to be very unconventional, even by our standards."
Guitarist John McLaughlin, best known for his work with Miles Davis, Tony Williams and Mahavishnu Orchestra, has been working on a new studio album, Now Here This. The album, his second with The 4th Dimension, will be released October 18.
