Born of Osiris guitarist Lee McKinney has premiered a new song, “Skylasher,” and you can check it out below. The track is from McKinney's new project-in-progess, an all-instrumental solo album. “The track, ‘Skylasher,' is the first solo guitar instrumental song I’ve created in what will hopefully become a long discography of full-length records from here on out in my music career," McKinney says.

“My dad turned me on to all the metal I listened to when I was younger. We’d listen to a lot of Randy Rhoads and Ozzy Osbourne. But when he played Pantera’s Cowboys from Hell for me, that was what really made me want to play metal and be in a band. That Pantera record changed everything for me.

We’re still in the process of writing and arranging, but we’re set to record in February. We’ve been writing since we finished recording [2011’s] The Discovery, so there’s definitely plenty of material. We’re sending the songs that we’ve completed back and forth with our team and getting everyone’s ideas and input to see how they can grow. Hopefully, the album will come out right around summertime.
