There is a surprisingly large and growing variety of baritone solidbody electric guitars to choose from these days. After the successful introduction of two new LTD Signature Series basses for jazz fusion bassist Bunny Brunel at the NAMM Show in January, ESP Guitars (Summer NAMM booth 1232) is adding to the bass player’s arsenal with two more signature instruments at the 2015 Summer NAMM Show.
The new models are the EC-1000 KOA and the M-1000 KOA, and they make use of exotic Hawaiian koa wood tops. The new koa models will have limited availability through select ESP dealers and international distributors.
ESP Guitars (Summer NAMM booth 1232) has introduced an entirely new series to the LTD guitar brand. The new SN Series, with six new guitar models, is based on a popular ESP model often requested but never before available outside Japan.
ESP is adding dozens of new and updated LTD models to this year’s lineup. “LTD represents the ‘bread-and-butter’ for ESP dealers, with affordable guitars and basses for all levels of musicians,” says Matt Masciandaro, ESP president and CEO.
Three new models are being created for ESP artist Gary Holt of Exodus. The ESP Gary Holt, LTD GH-600EC and LTD GH-200EC are all single-cutaway guitars that are accented in distinctive red-colored design details, and feature Floyd Rose tremolos.
Alex Skolnick is among a few guitarists who have achieved multigenre success and acclaim, first as a wild young gun with the iconic metal thrash band Testament, and then as a tasteful and technically impressive jazzbo with the Alex Skolnick Trio.
The Guitar World crew visited the ESP Guitars room at the 2014 Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, California. We were introduced to several new guitars from the company, including the new Alex Skolnick models from both ESP and LTD, plus the brand-new ESP USA series, which includes the Eclipse, Horizon and other models.
