Fender’s American Standard series guitars and basses have been upgraded for 2012, resulting in the latest iterations of the Telecaster, Stratocaster, Precision Bass and Jazz Bass. The new instruments now feature Fender Custom Shop pickups, as well as other new design touches.

Most of the updates include EVH's Wolfgang USA series of guitars and the 5150-III amp. The Wolfgang now offers flame maple tops, plus ebony fingerboards on five of the eight available models. They're all available with Floyd Rose or double-locking hard-tail.

As always, Fender has introduced a plethora of new models of guitars and amps to heat things up in the middle of January. One of the coolest -- or perhaps coolest looking -- is the new Kurt Cobain Mustang Guitar. Guitar World paid a visit to the NAMM booth yesterday and got to check out a few of these guitars in person, including a very nice Fiesta Red model.
