In the following video, Guitar World's Paul Riario takes a look at the new Eric Clapton series of amps from Fender. The EC series marks Fender's first signature series amp, fittingly granted to the man who also had the first signature model guitar from the company.
In the following video, Guitar World's Paul Riario checks out the new GVT52-112 amplifier from Ampeg, which features two channels -- each with a highly interactive three-band Baxandall tone circuit that produces a wide variety of EQ-shaping possibilities.
Guitar World stopped off at the Celestion booth last week during the 2012 Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California, to speak to John Paice about the company's new offerings, including the G12M-65 Creamback speaker.
New Vox gear includes the Delay Lab pedal, which offers 30 presets and a 28-second looper (There's so much more to say about the Delay Lab; to read more about it -- and see another video -- head here); the Handwired Wah, which offers more mid-range than usual; the AC4 C1 amp in blue; the AC4 Handwired amp and the Tony Bruno TB18 amp.
Most of the updates include EVH's Wolfgang USA series of guitars and the 5150-III amp. The Wolfgang now offers flame maple tops, plus ebony fingerboards on five of the eight available models. They're all available with Floyd Rose or double-locking hard-tail.
Guitar World paid a visit to the ENGL booth at the 2012 Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California, to check out some new amps -- including the Gigmaster 30. In this video, guitarist AC Alexander of Warrior and Lizzy Borden does the playing as Michael Berger of ENGL does the talking, dishing out details about the Gigmaster 30. The amp features a 12-inch Celestion Super 65, plus reverb and two channels.
This new, organic-sounding 100-watt amp is part of what ENGL considers a slightly new direction. It features all new circuitry -- it's not quite the high-gain amp ENGL has become known for, despite their amps' versatility. For more info, including tube details, the two channels and the interchangeable front frames, check out the video below.
Fender Amplification has just announced the release of a cool little pair of combo amps, Greta and Excelsior, which make up the new Pawn Shop Special line of amplifiers. Made for the tabletop, you won't have to spend countless hours scouring pawn shops to take home one of these beauties.
This has been an interesting year in amplifiers. Never before have I seen so much tweakability on the front and top control panels of the many amplifiers that have shown up at our door here at Guitar World. The emergence of numerous slider-switches, mini-toggles and push buttons seem to have suddenly taken up real estate normally reserved for control knobs of amplifiers!
